Inviting someone into your parent’s home is an act of trust. We take that seriously. Every Nila Personal Support Worker is hand-picked, screened, trained and supported — and we share exactly how, so your family can feel confident from day one.
OUR HIRING & ONBOARDING PROCESS
Credential & Background Checks
Ontario PSW Certificate verified, Vulnerable Sector Check completed, current First Aid & CPR-C confirmed, and identity & work-eligibility checks on file.
In-Person Interview
A structured, in-person interview to assess hands-on skills, judgement and the human qualities that matter most in someone’s home — patience, warmth and respect for dignity.
References & Insurance
Two professional references contacted, prior employer history verified, and every PSW is covered by liability and workplace safety insurance (WSIB).
ONGOING TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
Beyond their Ontario PSW certification, every Nila PSW completes additional training before their first client visit and continues developing through regular refresher sessions.

Dementia, Alzheimer’s & responsive-behaviour care (GPA)
Fall prevention, safe transfers & emergency response
Privacy, consent & recognizing signs of elder abuse
Communication, cultural sensitivity & dignity-first care
The team in your home
Nila is a non-medical home care provider. Our PSWs deliver personal support and companionship — not regulated medical procedures. When your loved one needs clinical care, we work alongside their existing medical team and Ontario’s home & community care services.
Personal Support Workers
Ontario PSW-certified, trained in personal care, mobility, dementia support and dignity-first care. The right blend of skill and warmth for daily life at home.
Companion Caregivers
For families who primarily need friendly company, errands, light housekeeping and an attentive presence — without hands-on personal care.
