Nila provides non-medical home care across the Greater Toronto Area, delivered by Ontario-certified Personal Support Workers (PSWs). That includes personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming), companionship, medication reminders, meal preparation, mobility support, light housekeeping, transportation, respite care for family caregivers, and overnight or live-in support.

A Toronto-based care coordinator meets with your family (in person or by video), learns about your loved one’s needs, routines, preferences, language and cultural background, and builds a personalized care plan. From there we propose a PSW who fits, and you have the final say. If the match isn’t right, we’ll find someone who is.

Yes. Every Nila PSW holds an Ontario Personal Support Worker Certificate, current First Aid & CPR-C, and has passed a Vulnerable Sector Check. They are covered by liability insurance and workplace safety coverage (WSIB). We verify credentials, references and prior employment.

No — Nila is a non-medical home care provider. Our PSWs deliver personal support and companionship, not regulated medical procedures. If your loved one needs nursing or clinical care, we coordinate with their physician or Ontario’s home & community care services (LHIN / Ontario Health atHome).

In many cases we can have a PSW in your loved one’s home within a few days of your first call. Urgent situations (hospital discharge, sudden change in condition) can often be supported sooner — let your coordinator know your timeline.

Visits typically start at a few hours at a time. There’s no long-term contract — care plans can be paused, scaled up, or scaled down as your family’s needs change. We’ll talk you through what makes sense during your consultation.

Yes. We offer awake-overnight, multiple-visits-per-day and live-in PSW support for clients who need a steady presence around the clock — for example, after a hospital stay, for advanced dementia, or for end-of-life support at home.

We focus on the right match, not just the next available shift. You get a named PSW (not a rotating roster wherever possible), a single Toronto-based care coordinator you can reach directly, and a simple family app so you can see what’s happening between visits.

Yes. Our PSWs log a short visit note after each shift — what was done, how your loved one was feeling, anything to flag. The whole family can see these notes in the Nila app, along with the schedule, care plan and a direct line to your coordinator.

Absolutely — this is one of the most important things we do. Caring for a parent or partner is exhausting. We can step in for a few hours a week, full days, weekends, or longer stretches so you can rest, work, travel or simply have your evenings back.

Yes. Many of our PSWs have additional training in dementia care, including Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA), responsive behaviours, and creating safe, calm routines at home. We’ll match a PSW with the right experience.
